Kirsty Wood is a Registered Psychologist who commenced her training in 1998, graduating from Melbourne University with a Science degree, majoring in Psychology.
She later went on to obtain a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and a Post-Masters Diploma in Existential Counselling Psychology from Regent’s College, London. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Kirsty is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is also a member of the Association of Counselling Psychologists.
Trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Existential Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-focused Coaching, Kirsty is able to assist with a broad range of psychological issues.
In particular, Kirsty works with clients experiencing difficulties in their interpersonal relationships and associated stresses and anxieties. Other areas include depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, coping with an illness (i.e. cancer diagnosis), stress, bereavement/grief, women’s health and wellness, infertility, post-natal depression, parenting, managing change, and a lack of meaning/direction in life. Kirsty works with individuals, adolescents, couples and groups.
An experienced and very approachable Psychologist, Kirsty is warm, empathetic and supportive. She believes in building respectful and collaborative therapeutic alliances with her clients, and in offering a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to gain greater self-awareness and understanding of the issues they are facing, as well as finding empowerment to make positive and meaningful change.
